Frequently Asked Questions

For three generations, Reid Homes has been focused on building homes that both the families who live in them, and the builders who build them, can be proud of.

Whether it's your first contact with us, or you've already moved into your new home, whenever you have a question, we'll be there with the answer. In fact, we want to share some frequently asked questions and answers with you.

With so many builders to choose from, why should I purchase my new home from you?

There are many things that set Reid Homes apart from other builders, including the customizing of floor plans and our 'Meet the Builder' approach. Our company is and always will be 'hands-on'. Our grab-a-hammer philosophy means we know every aspect of homebuilding, and we are on-site throughout the building process. Reid Homes is a low-volume, quality builder and will never build cookie-cutter homes. Rather, we are committed to building 'Your Home, Your Way'.

How do I know my home will be finished on time?

At Reid Homes, we realize that your closing date is critical to you and your family. With over 55 years of homebuilding experience, Reid Homes knows how to deliver! In fact, we monitor each stage of the building process to ensure that your home stays on schedule.

In a company of your size and caliber, it's almost unheard of to actually meet the builder, but you promote it with a slogan. How do you do it?

Building homes is all we do. If it's more convenient for you to meet us on weekends, we'll be there. We make appointments at your convenience, so you deal directly with the builder well before the building begins. As 'hands-on' builders, we do everything we can to make sure you get 'Your Home, Your Way'.

It's uncommon to find a homebuilder that offers so many customizing options. How is Reid Homes able to do it?

Reid Homes is large enough to be competitive, yet we purposely stay small enough to maintain a 'hands-on' approach to building. That way, we can personally follow through with the details.

When will my sod be laid?

As soon as the ground dries up enough to grade your lot, Reid Homes will professionally install your sod. Once installed, watering and maintaining the lawn becomes the homeowner's responsibility.

What is a year-end inspection?

After a year, your new home will have 'settled'. With the natural settling process, drywall nails will sometimes 'pop' and/or minor cracks may appear. This is in no way a sign of substandard workmanship; it is a regular occurrence with any new building. As the homeowner, it is wise to keep a running list throughout the year, so that our inspection is complete and everything is repaired to your satisfaction.

What is included with your 3-hour builder complimentary service?

After your home has settled and we have completed our one-year inspection, Reid Homes will provide you with 3 complimentary hours with a builder. While this time is usually used for fixing nail pops and cracks in the drywall, you may not have any, or only a few. In any case, we provide you with 3 hours of complementary service, to do whatever you wish.

What do you mean when you say Reid Homes is a 'hands-on builder'?

The Reids have been building quality homes since 1947. In fact, it's all we've ever done. Richard learned homebuilding from his father, became a framer at 19, and has been a homebuilder since he was 25. With their extensive experience in building homes from the ground up, Nathan brings the Reid homebuilding tradition into its third generation. Site visits are the norm at Reid Homes, where you'll likely find one or all of the Reids at any given time.

How can you be sure the people you hire live up to your high standards?

All of our construction crews are full-time, experienced, trained to our high standards, and they only work for Reid Homes. Rather than high-pressure sales people who must go through layers of management to make any decision, our consultants deal directly with the builder. Their job is to assist the builder, so that you get the home of your dreams - and enjoy the process.
